My conferences, projections, or presentations
The story begins around this picture and the place I come from. In the photograph, you’ll find me alongside a former colleague who remains a cherished friend. Her name is Ilonka, hailing from the Netherlands. Ilonka is a delightful and beautiful woman. This particular image of the two of us serves as a memento, taken during our time at a splendid restaurant. We were attending work meetings at the luxurious five-star HOTEL RIU PLAZA PANAMA, where we engaged with numerous colleagues from various countries.
Did I grow up alongside these individuals?
No, I did not share my formative years with these particular friends. My early childhood unfolded in a small town named “Jérémie,” particularly in a locality known as “La vodwòg.” Situated in the southern part of Haiti, considered as the poorest country in the Caribbean and the entire western hemisphere.
Were we classmates?
None of these friends or colleagues shared the classroom with me; all my classical studies took place in Haiti.
What about these fine dining establishments and upscale hotels?
Neither these exquisite restaurants nor luxurious hotels were part of my experience. In my hometown, essential amenities like electricity, water networks, and hospitals were absent, rendering discussions about such hotels unnecessary. At a certain point, my father decided to relocate, and we settled in Port-au-Prince, the capital of the country. While I observed beautiful hotels there, they were beyond my reach. Economic and familial circumstances were challenging. I recall the night of my graduation from Secondary School; upon returning home around 8 PM after the ceremony (residing with my godmother), hunger led me to a small public market in the “Delmas 32” area to purchase and consume a “Pate Kòde,” a locally crafted pastry.
So, how did I navigate such a situation? How did I reach my current status with friends and international partners, dining and residing in five-star establishments? I started with nothing! How did I initiate progress? How could I kickstart my career and embark on global travels, including visits to cities like Paris? What about numerous others facing similar challenges? How can they launch their careers amid limited opportunities? How can they empower themselves? These are the questions I address through my work, presentations, and other endeavors.
Numerous individuals require guidance. Many find themselves lost, feeling as the game is over without even trying. I reasoned that by communicating with people, particularly the youth, my words might illuminate paths for some. I don’t claim to save everyone who listens to my speeches or reads my texts. Nonetheless, some may make decisions that contribute to significant changes in their lives. For this reason, drawing from my experiences, I commenced presentations to:
- Showcase another model of perseverance or success (Many seek role models)
- Advocate for self-leadership (Many need to learn how to lead themselves)
- Encourage self-development (Many are unaware of their potential)
- Champion diversity, creativity, and exchange (Fostering productive networks)
- Promote life’s school learning (The most exceptional school or university is life itself)
My Current Status
I hail from and grew up in the Caribbean, specifically the poorest country in both the Caribbean and American hemispheres. In a place where uncertainty clouds the future for everyone, survival is a daily challenge—a reality I, like others, have faced since birth.
During my upbringing, envisioning a future where I would hold a communication diploma, communicate proficiently in four languages, work in the aviation industry, collaborate with esteemed companies like Air Canada, Spirit Airlines, Air France, Copa Airlines, Air Transat, United Airlines, and more, become an Airport Manager, and be part of a vast network spanning North to South America and the Caribbean seemed unimaginable. Yet, here I am, celebrating over two decades of a successful professional and leadership journey.
The journey from a birthplace lacking electricity, hospitals, standard schools, and universities to my current position involved proven strategies and formulas that I now share through my presentations.
